MEN’S BASKETBALL ADDS TWO POST PLAYERS TO LINEUP

August 21, 2003

ABERDEEN, SD - Northern State Head Men’s Basketball Coach Don Meyer has announced that Bjorn Schoo and Dan Magrino will join the NSU basketball program beginning in the 2003-04 season.

Schoo is a 7-foot, 240-pound center from Freiburg, Germany who averaged four points and four rebounds for the USC Freiburg semi-pro basketball team.

“Bjorn could be a terrific player at our level,” commented Coach Meyer. “He has great size and strength along with some athleticism. There is no doubt he is a great fit for our program. Our players really liked him on his visit and Bjorn really wants to be here at Northern State.”

Magrino is a 6-foot-10, 215-pound post from Pembroke Pines, Fla. He averaged over 12 points and 11 rebounds per game for Pines Charter High School in 2002-03.

“Dan has a chance to be a very good player in the post,” said Meyer. “We were very happy with his work habits and attitude. He will really benefit from a redshirt year to work on his body and learn our style of play in the post. He is left-handed and has great touch around the basket.”

“Bjorn and Dan give us something we have been lacking...size,” said Meyer on his new players. “Both are willing to work and do what it takes to help the team. They are a great fit for Northern State University and for Aberdeen.”
