Nelson Perfect from the Floor and FT Line

ABERDEEN, S.D. – Craig Nelson scored a career high 14 points, grabbed a career high six rebounds and tied a career high with 6 assists as he was perfect from the floor (4-4) and the free throw line (4-4) as the Wolves defeated Concordia St. Paul 90-74. The Wolves improve to 13-4 overall and 4-1 in the NSIC.

The Wolves came out shooting red-hot as they connected on 73.1% (19-26) of their shots from the field including 6 of 7 from three-point range. The Golden Bears struggled as they hit only 5 of 13 (25%) three pointers and 13 of 36 (36.1%) shots from the field. The Wolves were out rebounded in the first have as the Golden Bears had an 18 to 13 advantage including 12 boards on the offensive end.

The Wolves were led by Matt Hammer (Jr., F, Elkton, S.D.) who led the Wolves with 17 points, eight rebounds and seven assists in 36 minutes of play. All five starters for the Wolves were in double digit scoring as Aaron Busack (Jr., C, Redwood Falls, Minn.) had 16, Jarod Obering (Sr., G, Beatrice, Neb.) and Craig Nelson (R-Fr., G, Mayville, N.D.) both had 14 and Levi Hamilton (Fr., F, Lincoln, Neb.) had 12.

The Wolves were cool as the other side of the pillow from outside as they connected on 11 of 14 (78.6%) three points, nearly breaking the school record. But the Wolves were out rebounded 35-29 and an amazing 21 to 2 on the offensive end.

The Wolves take on NDSU and MSU Moorhead next weekend in Fargo/Moorhead.
