Three Wolves Celebrate Victory on Senior Night
ABERDEEN, S.D. – Northern State continued its dominance over Minnesota, Crookston as they improve to a perfect 12-0 all time versus the Golden Eagles with an 88-69 win on “I Hate Winter” night at Barnett Center. Matt Hammer led all scorers with 26 points, eight rebounds, five assists and four steals on the night.
Senior Jarod Obering (Beatrice, Neb.) had a solid night on Senior Night as he scored 12 points on 4 of 6 shooting (all from three point range). Craig Nelson (R-Fr., G, Mayville, N.D.) and Aaron Busack (Jr., C, Redwood Falls, Minn.) both had 11 points in the game.
Seniors Tony Birmingham (Moorhead, Minn.) and Dustin Hjelmeland (Staples, Minn.) were the other two seniors playing their final regular season game at Wachs Arena.
The Wolves made seven more shots on the night than the Eagles but the Golden Eagles were 0-10 from three-point range, while the Wolves were 8 of 19 (42.1%). Wolves had a narrow rebounding edge at 37-34, but were out rebounded 17-9 on the offensive end.
