Test Passed as Wolves Knock Off NW Missouri State

Maryville, Mo. - #12 Northern State (8-0, 0-0 NSIC) ended Northwest Missouri State’s (6-2, 0-0 MIAA) 47 game home non-conference win streak as they knocked off the Bearcats 79-69 at Bearcat Arena. The Wolves opened the game on a 11-2 run and never trailed in the game as they are off to their best start since the 1994-95 season when they started 9-0.

The Wolves were led by Aaron Busack (Sr., C, Redwood Falls, Minn.) who paced all scorers with 19 points in the game, 11 coming from the free throw line. Busack also had seven rebounds after going 4 of 7 from the field and 11 of 12 from the line. Craig Nelson (R-So., G, Mayville, N.D.) had 14 points, 12 in the second half, as he went 8 of 10 from the line and 2 of 5 from the field, all from three point range. Adam Grant (Sr., F, Berthold, N.D.) added ten points as he was 3 of 4 from the floor and had a game high eight rebounds. Matt Hammer (Sr., F, Elkton, S.D.) scored seven points and grabbed six rebounds as he moves up to #19 all-time in scoring at NSU.

The Wolves dominated the rebounding war as they had 44 compared to 29 from the Bearcats. The Wolves also won the free throw contest as they hit 26 of 33 (78.8%) compared to the Bearcats going 17 of 29 (58.6%).

The Bearcats did take care of the ball as they turned it over only six times in the game; however those six led to ten points by the Wolves. The Wolves had 14 turnovers that led to 19 Bearcat points.

Northern State stays on the road as they travel to Minnesota-Duluth next Saturday, Dec. 10 th for a 3:00 p.m. game.
