Wolves Win Second in a Row over MSUM by 7

Moorhead, Minn. - #12 Northern State (18-2, 7-1 NSIC) defeated MSU Moorhead (13-8, 2-6 NSIC) by seven for the second consecutive Saturday, this time in a 64-57 thriller at a packed Alex Nemzek Field house. Northern State hit a pair of three pointers in the last two minutes to pull away from a back and forth game as they win their fourth in a row over MSU Moorhead by seven or less.

Northern State used a 12-0 run midway through the second half to pull their way back into a sloppy game to lead by four at 44-40. The game was tied at 55 with 3:23 to go when Adam Grant (Sr., F, Berthold, N.D.) and Craig Nelson (R-So., G, Mayville, N.D.) hit back to back threes to put the Wolves up 61-55 with 2:14 to go.

Leading scorer for the Wolves was Nelson with 13 points on 3 of 9 shooting and Grant with 11 on 5 of 8 shooting. Matt Hammer (Sr., F, Elkton, S.D.) had ten points and seven rebounds and five assists in the game as well.

Leading scorer for the Dragons was Marcus Ebow who scored all 14 of his points in the first half.

Northern State returns home to take on Upper Iowa on Monday, Jan. 6 th at 8:00 p.m.
