All-Around Effort Wins it for Wolves

Aberdeen, S.D. - #12 Northern State (20-2, 8-1 NSIC) used a group effort to sweep Concordia St. Paul (13-9, 2-7 NSIC) on the season with a 63-47 win at Barnett Center. Only one player on either team scored in double figures in the game. With the win Northern State head coach Don Meyer boast 25 seasons with 20 or more wins (five straight at NSU).

Along with Meyer, two other Wolves reached milestones. Matt Hammer (Sr., F, Elkton, S.D.) and Aaron Busack (Sr., C, Redwood Falls, Minn.) both surpassed 1,500 points in their careers. Hammer ranks 15th all-time in scoring at NSU with 1,508 points while Busack is right behind him at sixteen with 1,501 points.

Adam Grant (Sr., F, Berthold, S.D.) was the only player in double figures as he scored 11 points, all in the first half.

The Wolves dominated the boards as they had 38 compared to 20 by the Golden Bears. The Wolves also had 17 offensive boards, 12 of which came in the first 12 minutes of the game.

Both teams shot the ball well from the field. The Wolves were 24-of-54 (44.4%) while the Golden Bears were 18-of-42 (42.9%). The Wolves, however, were 9-of-12 from the free throw line compared to 6-of-14 (42.9%) for the Golden Bears.

#12 Northern State hosts #13 Winona State tomorrow night at 8:00 p.m. in a battle for sole possession of first place in the NSIC.
