Luke Wicks Scores Season High 10 Points in 87-46 Win
Crookston, Minn. – No. 16 Northern State (21-4, 9-3 NSIC) blew past Minnesota, Crookston (4-21, 1-11 NSIC) 87-46 in Crookston, Minn. The Wolves opened up a close game by out-scoring the Golden Eagles 57 to 21 in the second half.
Luke Wicks (R-So., F, Gillette, Wyo.) scored a season high 10 points a day following his 21 st birthday. Wicks was 2-of-4 from the line and 6-of-7 from the free throw line.
Matt Hammer (Sr., F, Elkton, S.D.) scored a game high 16 points on 5-of-10 shooting. Adam Grant (Sr., F, Berthold, N.D.) added 11 points and a team high six rebounds.
Jordan Grafsgaard was the only Golden Eagle in double figures with ten points.
The Wolves were 26-of-48 (54%) from the field in the game and 2-of-5 from three point range. The Golden Eagles were 17-of-46 (37%) from the field and 4-of-14 (28%) from three point range.
The Wolves went to the free throw line 39 times in the game, connecting on 33 (84%) while the Golden Eagles were only 8-of-14 (57%) from the charity stripe. The foul count was 23 on UMC and 17 on NSU for the game. UMC Head Coach Jeff Oseth was ejected with approximately five minutes left in the game after a questionable foul was called.
Northern State returns home to finish out the regular season hosting SW Minnesota State and No. 23 Wayne State next Friday and Saturday at 8:00 p.m.
