Northern State Remains at #3 in North Central Region
Indianapolis, Ind. - Northern State remained at third in the third North Central Regional Ranking of 2006. The Wolves are currently 17-2 overall and 6-1 in the NSIC. Regionally the Wolves are 10-2 with 8 regular season games remaining on their schedule.
Filling out the top five in the region are #1 Fort Hays State ( RMAC), #2 Winona State ( NSIC), #4Minnesota State (NCC) and #5 Nebraska-Kearney ( RMAC).
Eight teams from the region will qualify for the national tournament, with automatic bids granted to the champions of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference, the North Central Conference, and the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Post-Season Tournaments. Of the 10 teams listed in the poll, three are from the NSIC, three are NCC schools (#4 Minnesota State, #9 South Dakota and #10 St. Cloud State) while the RMAC has four schools (#1 Fort Hays State, #5 Nebraska-Kearney, #6 Fort Lewis and #7 Mesa State).
Northern State is currently ranked #12 in the NABC/DII Coaches Poll, which has no bearing on post-season play. The Wolves will travel to MSU Moorhead this Saturday night at 8:00 p.m. in Moorhead, Minn.
