WINNONA, Minn.- The Northern State Wolves (21-8) season ends with a 82-63 loss to the SW Minnesota State Mustangs (20-9) in the semi-finals of the NSIC Red Barron Men’s Basketball Classic. With the loss to the Mustangs the Wolves fall to 1-3 all time in NSIC tournament history. The is the first time in three seasons that the Wolves have not been in the finals of the NSIC Classic. Northern State Men's Basketball Places Three on NSIC All-Conference Team

St. Paul, Minn.- The Nothern Sun Intercollegiate Conference has announced their 2006-07 postseason awards which were voted on by the league coaches. Northern State University's Kevin Ratzsch was named to the NSIC All-Conference First Team, Craig Nelson was named to the second team and Levi Hamilton was named to the third team.
This is the first time that Kevin Ratzsch has been named on the all-conference team. Craig Nelson makes his second appearance on the all-conference team after being a third team member last season while this marks the first time that Hamilton has been named to an all-conference team. Full Release
Wolves Hold off Dragons

ABERDEEN, S.D.- The #3 Northern State Wolves (21-7, 13-5 NSIC) advanced to the semi-finals of the NSIC Red Baron Men's Basketball Classic with a 68-62 victory over the Dragons of Minnesota State University Moorhead (13-15, 8-10 NSIC) on Wednesday night. With the victory, the Wolves will face the #2 seed SW Minnesota State Mustangs at 2:00 pm in Winona, Minn on Saturday, March 3. Full Story

Men To Face Off With Dragons In First Round

ST. PAUL, Minn. - The 2007 NSIC Red Baron Men's Classic bracket has been released by the NSIC office. The Northern State Wolves (20-7, 13-5 NSIC) won the NCAA Power Formula tiebreaker for third seed in the tournament and will play host to MSU Moorhead (13-14, 8-10 NSIC) Wednesday night at Wachs Arena. The game is slated for an 8:00 pm start.

Wolves Move Into Tie For Third In NSIC Standings

BISMARCK, ND - A 77-59 win over the University of Mary (9-18, 5-13 NSIC) on Saturday night moves the Northern State Wolves (20-7, 13-5 NSIC) into a tie with Concordia-St. Paul for third place in the NSIC. Following tiebreaker guidelines, the decision will go to an NCAA Power Formula and NSIC Tournament brackets will be released on Sunday. The Wolves will host a first round NSIC tournament game on Wednesday, February 28 at 8:00 pm. Full Story

CROOKSTON, Minn.- With a 90-72 win over Minnesota, Crookston (2-23, 1-15 NSIC) Saturday evening, the Northern State men’s basketball team improved to 19-7 overall and 12-5 in the NSIC. The Wolves shot 51.5 percent (34-66) from the field and scored 25 points off of UMC turnovers. They will play their final regular season game next Saturday at the University of Mary. Full Story

Bemidji, Minn.- The Northern State Wolves (18-7, 11-5 NSIC) pushed their winning streak to four games with a 61-57 victory against the Bemidji State Beavers (4-20, 4-12 NSIC). Northern State was able to out score Bemidji State 32-25 in the second half to come away with the four point victory. Full Story

The NSIC’s leading scorer, Kevin Ratzsch, continued his dominance from the field last week, averaging 23.0 points per game while shooting well over 50 percent from both the field and three-point range while hitting every shot taken from the charity stripe. He led the Wolves to two victories last week, including a 72-65 upset over Concordia-St. Paul as he scored 22 points and pulled down nine rebounds. He shot 61.5% from the field (8-13) and 80% from beyond the arc (4-5) in NSU’s win over MSU Moorhead the following night. Ratzsch has scored in double figures in every game this season and has led the Wolves in scoring in each of the past four games. Full Story

ABERDEEN, S.D. - Kevin Ratzsch led the Wolves to their third conference victory in a row as he scored 24 points and snared 5 rebounds in the 75-69 defeat of the Dragons. With the win Northern State improve their record to 17-7 on the year and 10-5 in the NSIC. MSU Moorhead falls to 12-11 overall and 7-7 in the NSIC. Full Story
