WOLVES DROP TWO AT WAYNE STATE

April 18, 2001

Freshman third baseman Kacie Weatherly (Pipestone, Minn.) brought out the whoopin' stick, but it wasn't enough Wednesday as Northern dropped two games in a doubleheader at Wayne State (Neb.) 6-3 and 7-2.

Weatherly, who hit her first collegiate homerun just six days ago, smacked two more in the first game Wednesday. Unfortunately for the Wolves, both were solo shots and not enough to make up for big early innings by the Wildcats. NSU fell to 2-17 on the year and 0-2 in the NSIC. WSC is 15-13 overall and 2-0 in the conference. Because of the late winter weather and subsequent postponements and cancelations, the games served as conference openers for both teams.

NSU's next action is Friday, April 20 against Concordia-St. Paul at Manor Park in Aberdeen.
