Wolves Lose Two at NSIC Crossover

WAYNE, Neb. - The Wolves offense continued to struggle as they lost two games at the NSIC Crossover. In the first game of the day the Wolves fell to Minnesota, Crookston 8-4. Game two saw the Wolves lose their third game in two days to MSU Moorhead, this time by a score of 6-1.

The Wolves could only put together four runs (3 earned) on five hits as they fell to Minnesota, Crookston in game one. The Wolves could not take advantage of five Golden Eagle errors in the game as they left five runners on base. The Golden Eagles put together eight runs on 12 hits to pick up their first NSIC win of the season and first ever win over the Wolves.

Lisa Koehler (0-8) pitched all seven innings for the Wolves giving up eight runs (only 3 earned) on 12 hits to the 32 batters faced.

Game 1 Stats

The Wolves dropped their third game in two days to MSU Moorhead, this time by a score of 6-1. The Wolves left 12 runners on base in each of the games yesterday, and followed that same trend today as they left eight runners on.

MSU Moorhead erupted in the top of the fifth inning as the put together six hits to score five runs as they left the base loaded. MSU Moorhead left 12 runs of base themselves in the game.

The Wolves lone run game in the bottom of the seventh inning after Casey Vieth doubled to score Angie Olson from first base.

Christie Schulte (1-5) pitched all seven innings for the Wolves giving up six runs (all earned) on 13 hits, struck out eight and walked six of the 39 batters faced.

The Wolves fall to 1-15 overall and 0-4 in the NSIC. MSU Moorhead is now 10-5, 3-0 in the NSIC.

The Wolves take on Minnesota-Duluth and Bemidji State tomorrow in Wayne, NE in day two of the NSIC Crossover.
