Wolves Finish Season at NSIC Tournament
The Northern State Wolves Softball Team finished off the 2004 season with a 1-2 mark at the NSIC Tournament in Moorhead, MN.
The Wolves fell in game one of the tournament to the host team MSU Moorhead 3-0. The #2 seeded Dragons and the #7 seeded Wolves combined for only nine hits and three runs in the game. The Dragons scored three runs in the bottom of the first inning to take the early lead. The Wolves could not counter as they fell into the loser's bracket after the first game.
Game 1 Stats
In their second game the Wolves took on the #8 seed, Minnesota, Crookston. The Wolves found their first win in their last five games as they shut out the Golden Eagles 2-0.
The Wolves scored a run in the bottom of the first and fifth inning to get the win. Lisa Koehler got the shut out as she went seven innings giving up only two hits and two walks to the 23 batters she faced.
Game 2 Stats
The Wolves lost their second game in the double elimination tournament when they fell to Wayne State (NE) 9-0.
The Wolves had only two hits, but matched that with two errors. The Wildcats had only five hits but scored seven runs in the bottom of the fourth and sixth innings to knock the Wolves out of the tournament.
Game 3 Stats
The Wolves finished the season with a 6-33 overall record and a 4-12 mark in the NSIC.
