MOORHEAD, Minn. –Northern State split a pair of games at the NSIC Crossover as the defeated SW Minnesota State 1-0 before falling to Concordia St. Paul 0-8 in six innings. The Wolves are now 9-21 overall and 2-6 in the NSIC.
The Wolves got a outstanding pitching performance against SW Minnesota State as Lisa Koehler went seven innings picking up the shutout and giving up only two hits. She struck out two and walked three of the 28 batters she faced.
The Wolves used single by Jenna Drey followed by a pair of Mustang errors to score the only run of the game in the bottom of the fifth. Drey had the Wolves only hit of the game and scored the unearned run on a error by the second basemen.
The Wolves fell to Concordia St. Paul 8-0 in six innings in their second game of the day as the Golden Bears improve to 32-12 overall and 9-1 in the NSIC. The Wolves only had two hits in the game and three on the day. Caitlin Hodges and Laura Donley were the only Wolves get hits against the Golden Bears.
Audrey Decker gave up seven runs on ten hits over her 4 2/3 innings of work. Koehler came in the final 1 1/3 innings and gave up two runs (one earned) on two hits.
The Wolves take on Winona State and Wayne State on day two of the NSIC Crossover.
