St. Paul, Minn. - Northern State softball lost their first game of the NSIC Tournament by a score of 5-1 to MSU Moorhead. The Wolves battled back in the losers bracket with an impressive 12-0 win over Bemidji State. The Wolves take on Wayne State Saturday morning at 10:00 a.m.
The Wolves lost game one as MSU Moorhead scored a pair of runs in the bottom of the fourth and sixth inning to secure the win. The Wolves had two errors that led to two unearned runs and only came up with three hits in the game. The Wolves lone run came in the top of the seventh inning when Natalie Kieff singled in Lisa Koehler. Laura Donley struck out swinging to end the Wolves late rally. Lisa Koehler pitched game one and gave up three earned runs on ten hits.
Game two the Wolves exploded for nine runs in the first two innings. They added three in the fourth to end the game after five innings. Six Bemidji errors led to three unearned runs in the game. Jenna Drey went 2 for 3 in the game with a home run, four RBIs and a run scored.
