Wolves Lose Two on First Day of Cross-Over
BEMIDJI , Minn. - Northern State (12-26, 3-9) lost a pair of games on the first day of the crossover held in Bemidji, Minn. In the first game the Wolves lost to the Golden Bears of Concordia St. Paul by a score of 1-9, and in the second game the Mustangs of SW Minnesota State got the victory over the Wolves by a score of 5-0.
In the first game the Wolves were able to only get five hits off of Turba of Concordia St. Paul. Turba went five innings giving up five hits, one run, while striking out seven. Luciola Figueroa had a pair of hits for the Wolves going 2 for 2 in the game. Zomarie Lozano also had a good game at the plate as she went 1 for 2 with a homerun.
The Golden Bears pounded out twelve hits off of Lisa Koehler and Audrey Decker of Northern State. Concordia St. Paul improved their recored to 30-11, 7-2 on the year.
In game two the Wolves struggled offesively as they only got five hits with two of them coming from Natalie Kieff as she went 2 for 3 in the game.
Christi Schulte went the complete seven innings giving up eleven hits and striking out five on the day. Schulte fell to 2-11 on the year with the loss.
The Mustangs were led by Opatz who went 2 for 4 with two RBI's and one run scored. Fringer got the win as she went seven innings giving up five hits while striking out two.
The Wolves continue play at the crossover on Sunday when they play Winona State at 10:00 am and Wayne State at 2:00 pm. Games will be played in Bemidji, Minn.
