Wolves Advance to the Third Round of NSIC Tournament
Crookston, Minn. -The Northern State Wolves (17-33) ended the Bemidji State Beavers (16-22) season in the second round of the NSIC Conference Tournament 2-1.
The Wolves only got two hits in the game but were able to capitalize on the Beavers three errors to get the win. The Wolves got on the board first scoring two runs in the second innings. The Wolves were unable to score any more runs but were able to hold on for the victory.
The Wolves offesnive output came from Caitlin Hodges who went 1 for 2 with two runs batted in. The Wolves got strong pitching performances from Christi Schulte and Lisa Koehler. Schulte went 3 2/3 innings giving up three hits while striking out one and Koehler went 3 1/3 innings giving up two hits and one run with three strikeouts. With the win Schulte picked up her fifth win on the year.
The Beavers were led by Prettyman who went 2 for 3 with one run scored. Willard went all seven innings for the Beavers giving up two hits, one earned run, while striking out three. With the loss the Willard's record falls to 7-7.
The Wolves will be in action tomorrow at 10:00 am where they will play the winner of the Wayne State/Minnesota, Crookston game.
