MOORHEAD, Minn. – The Wolves (0-29, 0-7 NSIC) gave up just nine hits in a doubleheader against MSU Moorhead (19-11, 4-3 NSIC) Tuesday afternoon, falling to the Dragons 2-0 and 1-0. Their six hits given up in the first game marked the fewest hits allowed in nine games and the three hits in the second game ties a season record for fewest hits allowed.
Northern kept MSU Moorhead to just three runs on the day by receiving solid pitching from Christi Schulte and Audrey Decker. Schulte gave up six hits, all singles, and just two earned runs while striking out one batter. Decker notched two K's in six innings pitched and gave up just one run. The team committed just two errors in the doubleheader, both of which came in game two and resulted in MSUM's only run of the game being unearned.
Northern came up short offensively and was kept to three total hits off the bats of Caitlin Hodges, Sara Lipetzky and Sam Francis. They were fanned 11 times.
