Wolves defeat the Mustangs
Aberdeen, SD- The Northern State Wolves (12-3-2, 7-3-2 NSIC) had four different players score as they defeated the SW Minnesota State Mustangs (4-9-4, 4-5-3 NSIC) 4-0 in Aberdeen, SD.
Suanne Lampert opened up the scoring as she netted her fifth goal of the season at the 21:04 mark of the first half off of a corner kick from Liz Malatesta. The Wolves continued to put on the pressure and at the 33:37 mark of the first half Heather Bartlett pounded home her seventh goal of the season off of a Larissa Strychun pass.
In the second half Malatesta recorded her second assist of the game as she feed Jessi Hambrick the ball for her first goal of the season. Hambrick sat out all of last season with a boot on her leg. Malatesta would finish off the scoring as she would score at the 81:16 mark of the game off of a double assist from Hambrick and Melissa Gamble. The Wolves out shot the Mustangs 20 to 11 and 10 to 7 in shots on goal.
Theresa Alexander would end up with seven saves as she held off the Mustangs attack. With the shutout Alexander now has 7.5 on the season.
Northern State will be in action on Sunday October 23, 2005 as they host the Wayne State Wildcats out of Nebraska. The game is set for a 1:00 pm start.
