Warriors Continue Dominance of Wolves
Aberdeen, S.D. - The Northern State Wolves (5-3, 0-1 NSIC) lose another tough game to conference foe Winona State Warriors (3-3-1, 1-0 NSIC) 2-0 in Aberdeen, SD. This marks the third time in two years the Warriors have defeated the Wolves.
The Warrios out shot the Wolves 16 to 9 in the game with a 13 to 3 advantage in shots on goal. The Warriors got on the board first as Christine Beatty blasted a shot over the head of the Wolves goal keeper Theresa Alexander (Sr., GK., Cooper City, Fla.) at the 10:42 mark in the game. After that goal the Wolves had plenty of chances in the first half but were unable to get anything on goal.
In the second half Alexander made some terrific saves to keep the score at 1-0 until the 89:06 mark, when Amelia Kasten put one in the back of the net to make in 2-0 and secure the win for the Warrios. The Warriors goal keeper Amanda Diehm improves her record to 3-3-1 on the year as Alexander goes to 3-3 with the loss.
The Wolves will be in action again on Sunday September 17th when they host the Upper Iowa Peacocks in Aberdeen, SD at 1:00 pm. The Wolves defeated the Peacocks last year 2-0 in Aberdeen, SD.
