Wolves Win Two Crucial Conference Games on the Road

The Northern State Wolves (8-3, 3-1 NSIC) were able to win two important games on the road this weekend. On Saturday September 23 rd the Wolves defeated Southwest Minnesota State (2-6, 1-2 NSIC) by a score of 3-0. Then on September 24 th the Wolves traveled to Wayne, NE to take on the Wayne State Wildcats. The Wolves were able to get out of Nebraska with a 1-0 win.

Against the Mustangs the Wolves used 16 shots with nine of them being on goal to defeat the Mustangs. The Wolves got two goals from NSU’s all time goal leader Melissa Gamble (Sr., F., Calgary, Alberta) and one from Jessi Hambrick (Jr., F., Thornton, CO).

Goal keeper Theresa Alexander (Sr., GK., Cooper City, Fla.) had five saves on the afternoon and improved her record to 4-3 on the season.

Against Wayne State the Wolves got the only goal of the game off of a header from Alisha Martinez (Fr., F., Westmister, Colo.). The goal marks the second goal of her young career. The Wolves and the Wildcats both had nine shots on goal, but the Wildcats out shots the Wolves on goal by a mark of five to three.

Theresa Alexander got her second shutout in as many games as she made five saves and improved her record to 5-3 on the year.

The Wolves will be in action again on Saturday September 25 th when they take on the Concordia St. Paul Golden Bears at 11:00 am in Aberdeen, SD.
