RECORDS FALL
AT
DAKOTA COLLEGE CHAMPIONSHIPS
Feb. 9, 2002
Northern State's
track and field teams hosted the Dakota College Championships Saturday,
competing against Black Hills State (BHSU), Dakota State (DaSU)
and South Dakota School of Mines and Technology (SDSMT). North Dakota
schools Valley City State and Dickinson State were unable to compete
in the meet due to poor traveling conditions.
Northern broke
two school records Saturday, with Steve Gough breaking his own mark
in the weight throw with a heave of 54 feet, 1 inch. That effort
was also a Barnett Center facility record, as well as a Dakota College
Championships record. Eric Longhenry also broke an NSU record in
the 55-meter high hurdles with a time of 7.79 seconds.
On the women's
side, Northern's LeAnne Ehrich broke the Dakota College Championships
record in the shot with a put of 48 feet, 8 inches. NSU's Kim Heny
tied a Dakota College Championships record in high jump with a leap
of 5 feet, 4 inches.
In all, four
Dakota College Championships records and four Barnett Center records
were broken on the men's side. For the women, four Dakota College
Championships records were broken and one was tied. Two Barnett
Center records were broken.
