Indoor Track & Field Performs Well On First Day Of NSIC Championships

BEMIDJI, Minn. - The Northern State indoor track and field team wrapped up their first day of the NSIC Championships at Bemidji State, placing in the top five of four final field events and also performing well in the day's track prelims, with the final races on Saturday. The NSU men's team is currently in fourth place with 13 points, while the women are in seventh place with four points.
Some of the field final results include:
Women's High Jump: 5. Laura Smith, 5-01.25
Men's High Jump: 5. Bryant Feterl, 6-00.75
Men's Weight Throw: 4. Troy Brock, 53-11.00
Men's Distance Medley: 3. Northern State, 10:57.26
Highlighting the preliminary track results was an outstanding Men's 55 m Hurdles race, with Jake Hamik taking first place with a time of 7.71s and Bill Cameron coming in third with a time of 7.83s. Hamik also topped the list in the 400m Dash (49.78s), with Ryan Conrad on his heels in second place (50.39s). Paige Paulson came in second in the 400m Dash (1:00.48), Conrad came in fifth in the 200m Dash (22.56s) followed by Hamik in sixth (22.58s), and Ray Bentley finished fifth in the 55m Dash (6.56s).
