Hamik Makes Cut For Nationals

ABERDEEN, S.D. - Northern State junior Jake Hamik (Aberdeen, SD) will make a trip to the NCAA Division II Indoor Track National Championships, held in Boston, MA March 9-10. Hamik's provisional time of 8.13 seconds in the 60m Hurdles ranks him tied for ninth in the nation among male hurdlers and one of 12 athletes who will qualify for the event. Hamik made the cut for Nationals just last weekend, as he placed a personal best time and took first place in the event at the NSIC Championships.
Hamik was named an All-American last year after he placed eighth in the 400m Hurdles (51.52s) at the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track Nationals. His honors this season include being named NSIC Male Track Athlete of the Year and being nominated for North Central Region Track Athlete of the Year. He was also an NSIC Track Athlete of the Week on January 17. Hamik was part of two NSU indoor track records set this season. He set a new school record in the 400m Dash with a time of 49.38 seconds and was part of the 4x400 relay team that set a new record of 3:20.58.
