Hamik Named Men's Track Athlete of the Week

ST. PAUL, Minn. - Northern State junior Jake Hamik has been named NSIC Track Athlete of the Week by the Northern Sun Intercollegiate office. Hamik (Aberdeen, SD) won the 400m Hurdles at the Cobber Twilight meet on April 17 in 52.31s, an NCAA Div. II provisional qualifying time which presently ranks him 9th in the nation.

Hamik also ran on the winning 4x100m relay team. Later in the week at the Sioux City Relays, Hamik won the 110m Hurdles in 14.82s (he is ranked 17th in the current NCAA rankings for the event) and also won the 400m Hurdles, setting a new meet record with a time of 52.42s. Hamik also ran on two winning relay teams as the Wolves won both the Shuttle Hurdle Relay and the 4x400m Relay, setting a new school record in the Shuttle Hurdle Relay (1:01.59) and running an NSIC-leading 3:19.41 in the 4x400m Relay.
