August 28, 1999
The potential and inexperience of Northern State's 1999 volleyball team showed in the Wolves' 5-15, 15-6, 15-11, 15-9 loss to Edinboro University at the Rollins Kick-Off Classic in Winter Park, Fla., Friday. NSU got off to an explosive start, but struggled with consistency as Edinboro came back to claim the last three games. The Wolves, who lost two of the better ball-handling players in school history last season to graduation, struggled with serve receiving. NSU also missed the services of 1998 Newcomer of the Year Roxy Wolf, who sat out with a foot injury. Edinboro just missed being ranked in the AVCA Division II Top 25 pre-season poll, receiving over 60 votes.
The Wolves continue play Saturday, taking on 14th-ranked Florida Southern College at noon before facing No. 3 University of Tampa at 4 p.m. and host Rollins College at 7 p.m.
