NSU DROPS TWO TO END WEEKEND AT SDSU BK CLASSIC

September 4, 1999

Northern State fell 3-2 in a stinging loss to conference rival Minnesota Morris (16-14, 9-15, 16-18, 15-9, 15-13) before falling hard to No. 15 host South Dakota State 3-0 (15-9, 15-5, 15-1) in the SDSU Burger King Classic Saturday. The Wolves ended the weekend going 1-3 in Brookings and after the first two weeks of a grueling schedule stand at 2-6 overall.

NSU's hitting woes carried over from Friday, as the Wolves hit below .150 in both matches Saturday. In the Morris match, freshman outside hitter Stephanie Tschetter (Huron) led the NSU effort with 16 kills and 20 digs. Junior setter Tricia Schilling (Valley City, N.D.) dished out a whopping 62 assists in the marathon match.

In the SDSU match, the Wolves put up a fight in the first game but were overwhelmed by the undefeated, ranked and host Jackrabbits in the last two games.

NSU will enter yet another weekend tournament with nationally-ranked teams Sept. 10-11 at the NSIC-NCC Crossover in Marshall, Minn.
