WOLVES BLANKED AT NORTH CENTRAL REGION CLASSIC

Northern State ended the North Central Region Classic in Marshall, Minn., Saturday with a 3-0 loss to fifth-ranked North Dakota State (15-13, 15-6, 15-3).

On Friday, Northern State fell 3-0 to sixth-ranked Augustana (15-4, 15-8, 15-8) and 3-1 to Minnesota State-Mankato (15-5, 10-15, 15-5, 15-4) during the first day of the North Central Region Classic (the tournament formerly known as the NSIC-NCC Crossover).

Highlights over the weekend for the Wolves included senior middle blocker Jean Kringstad (Aberdeen), who had 10 kills and a .391 hitting percentage against Augustana. Sophomore outside hitter Beth Van Emmerik (Gillette, Wyo.) had 14 digs against Minnesota State-Mankato.

After a grueling pre-conference schedule that included matches against eight teams garnering attention in national polls, NSU (2-9) opens its home and conference season against Moorhead State Friday, Sept 17 in the Barnett Center. The match is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. On Saturday, Sept. 18, the Wolves face new conference member Minnesota-Crookston at 4 p.m.
