Northern State defeated Concordia-St. Paul 15-3, 15-5, 15-11 in Aberdeen Friday night to boost its home record this season to 4-0.
A fan's sign reading "The Fox is Back" signified the return of sophomore outside Roxy Wolf (Apple Valley, Minn.), who fought her way back into the lineup after suffering a frustrating foot injury early in the season. The 1998 NSIC Newcomer of the year ended the night with 13 digs and a match-high three aces.
Senior middle blocker Jean Kringstad (Aberdeen) led everyone at the
net, grunting out 12 kills at a .300 hitting percentage clip. At the net
defensively, sophomore Shanna Dahl (St. Cloud, Minn.) and junior Michelle
Wiswell (Lead) combined for three solo and 12 assisted blocks on the night,
at times seemingly rejecting everything the Golden Bears attempted to put
over the net. For the match, NSU held C-SP to a negative .022 hitting percentage.
Sophomore outside hitter Beth VanEmmerik (Gillette, Wyo.) got to most those
attacks that did squeeze through NSU's front, registering 16 digs.
