Oct. 29, 1999

Northern State's volleyball team it can play with any squad Friday night as the Wolves bounced Bemidji State 15-6, 10-15, 15-8, 15-11 in the Barnett Center.

The Beavers came into Aberdeen in the midst of a magical season, riding a 21-3 record and second-place stand in the conference, trailing only national power Minnesota-Duluth. On paper, the 8-16 Wolves weren't supposed to stand a chance. But no one told NSU's players that, as the Wolves came out on fire to put away the first game. After BSU proved its mettle by evening the match in a hardfought second game, the Wolves again took over and proved they simply wouldn't be denied on this night at home.

Junior setter Tricia Schilling (Valley City, N.D.) led the way for NSU, tallying 49 assists, 12 kills and 12 digs. Fellow junior Michelle Wiswell (Lead) led the team in kills with 16 from her outside hitter spot. Wiswell also had three block assists on the night, as did senior middle hitter Jean Kringstad (Aberdeen). Kringstad also tallied 11 kills and two solo blocks on the night.
