WOLVES FALL IN SLUGGISH MATCH AT SOUTHWEST

Sept. 25, 2001

Northern never fully recovered from a disappointing loss in the first game and fell 3-1 (31-29, 30-20, 28-30, 30-17) at Southwest State University (Marshall, Minn.) Tuesday night.

The Wolves were up 29-27 in the first game, but a service error led to a Mustang comeback and momentum swing that carried the team to an easy win in the second game.

NSU showed its resolve in the third game, coming from behind to avoid the sweep, but the Mustangs proved too much in the end and kept their program's undefeated streak against NSU in Marshall alive.

For the second straight match, junior outside hitter Kim Heny (Powell, Wyo.) led the team in kills. Heny tied for a match-high 16 kills an hit .310 on the evening. Heny also banged out five service aces. Junior middle blocker Christi Lucas (White, S.D.) had 15 kills and hit .333. Defensively, sophomore Monica Inge (Johnston, Iowa) led the team with 14 digs.

Meanwhile, the Mustangs were led by Tessa Heiss' 16 kills, while the team served up a team season-high 20 service aces on the night.
