WOLVES BLANK GOLDEN BEARS

NSU's Steph Tschetter (#14) and Shanna Dahl attempt to block C-SP's Jill Kalvik.

Northern State swept its third straight Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference opponent by dispatching Concordia-St. Paul 3-0 (30-28, 30-16, 30-24) at home Friday night.

As in the team's previous two straight-game wins against Minnesota-Crookston and Minnesota-Morris, Northern held C-SP to a hitting percentage below .100. The Golden Bears hit just .096 on the night, while Northern hit .242 as a team.

NSU's defense tallied 20 blocks on the night, led by junior middle blocker Christi Lucas (White, S.D.), who racked up 10 to go with a team-high 15 kills on a .375 hitting clip. Sophomore setter Tara Sauter (Belle Plaine, Minn.) dished out 36 assists on the night. Defensively, junior Stephanie Tschetter (Huron, S.D.) led the way with 12 digs. Joy Wubben led C-SP with 16 kills.

The Wolves (11-7 overall, 5-2 NSIC) struggled with C-SP in the first game, but found their stride and controlled most of the next two for the win. The victory snapped Concordia-St. Paul's undefeated 4-0 road mark this season and improved NSU's home undefeated streak this year to 5-0. The win also was a fitting way to celebrate the birthday of NSU junior Elisa LaFrance (Spearfish, S.D.).
