HENY RECEIVE POST-SEASON NSIC HONORS

MINNEAPOLIS,
MINN.: Northern State senior Christi Lucas (6’3, MB,
White, S.D.) was named to the All-NSIC first team while NSU’s
Kim Heny (6’0, OH, Powell, Wyo.) was placed on the
honorable mention list for the 2002 season.
Lucas
finished the season with 414 kills and 144 blocks (28 BS,
116 BA) on the year while leading the Wolves hitting at a
.309 clip. Christi finished sixth in the NSIC in hitting percentage
and kills while leading the leage averaging 1.30 blocks per
game. Christi was named to the South Dakota State Burger King
Classic All-Tournament Team and was honored as the NSIC Player
of the Week twice. This marks the third
straight year that Lucas has been named to the All-NSIC team.
She will leave NSU ranking fourth all-time in kills and in
blocks.

Heny
|
Heny
received her first All-NSIC postseason award this year. The
senior was third on the squad with 244 kills while hitting
at a .232 clip. Heny posted over two digs per game and was
fourth on the team with 62 blocks on the season. Heny will
leave NSU ranking 18th in school history in career kills in
just two seasons with the Wolves. Heny was a junior college
transfer from Northwest Junior College where she was an AVCA
and NJCA all-American.
Northern
State finished the 2002 season with an 18-14 overall record
and in second place in the NSIC with a league mark of 14-4.
