NSU
FALLS SHORT TO TOUGH COMPETITION AT CROSSOVER

Omaha,
Neb.: Northern
State finished the 2002 NSIC/NCC Crossover Tournament without
a win this weekend.
After
suffering a hard-fought 3-1 loss to nationally-ranked Northern
Colorado, the Wolves fell 3-0 to MSU, Mankato and 3-1 to host
school Nebraska-Omaha.
Despite
an 18-kill performance by Christi Lucas on Saturday, Northern
came up short to undefeated (11-0) MSU, Mankato 30-25, 30-27,
30-28. Lucas hit .415 in the match and led NSU with four blocks
as well.
In the
nightcap, the Wolves fell short to Nebraska-Omaha 30-27, 30-27,
20-30, 30-22. In th match, Kim Heny led NSU with 14 kills
and 11 digs while Monica Inge posted a team high 18 digs.
Northern
(3-9) will play in their first home match of the year on Tuesday
when the host South Dakota at 7 p.m. in the Barnett Center.

WOLVES
TAKE NO. 6 NORTHERN COLORADO TO FOUR GAMES

Neb.: The
Northern State volleyball team was defeated by No. 6 ranked
Northern Colorado in four games (27-30, 30-27, 25-30, 16-30)
on Friday in the first day of the NSIC/NCC Crossover Tournament
in Omaha, Neb.
Northern
kept the first game close and took the second off of the Bears,
but fell short in the third and fourth games to give Northern
Colorado (10-0) the victory.
Jessica
Bates posted a double-double on the day for NSU with 12 kills
and ten blocks in the match. Kim Heny posted 14 kills and
Christi Lucas notched 11. Molly Veenhof paced NSU in digs
with 15 while Tara Sauter added 12 and Stephanie Tschetter
and Monica Inge each had ten.
Northern
(3-7) will face MSU, Mankato Saturday at 2 p.m. followed by
a matchup with host school Nebraska-Omaha at 6 p.m.
