Kellie Heier

ABERDEEN, S.D.: High school volleyball standouts Kellie Heier and Heather Pudwill have signed National Letters of Intent to play volleyball at Northern State University next fall. The announcement was made on Thursday by head coach Lisa Schriver.

Kellie Heier ,a 5’5” senior setter on the Aberdeen Central volleyball team helped the Golden Eagles to a second place finish in the state tournament a year ago. Heier is a scholar honor athlete and has earned all-conference and all-state honors. She was a three-sport athlete at ACHS also competing in basketball and track. Kellie plans to major in elementary education at NSU.

“Kellie’s athletic ability makes up for any lack of size that she might have,” commented Schriver. “She’s a very good defensive setter which is something that you don’t usually see. She is a quality player and will be a great addition to the campus and to the volleyball program.”

Heather Pudwill

Heather Pudwill, a 5’11” middle blocker from Lino Lakes, Minn. will also play for the Wolves in 2003. Pudwill currently plays for Centennial High School where she also competed in basketball.

“Heather is going to be able to develop quickly because of her athleticism,” said Coach Schriver. “You will see her getting better with every match that she plays.”

Northern State University, a member of NCAA II, competes in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference. Northern State will wrap up the 2002 season at Minnesota State Moorhead and Minnesota-Crookston this weekend. They are currently ranked tenth in the North Central Region with a 16-14 overall record.
