WOLVES GET BY ST. CLOUD STATE, 3-1

MARSHALL, MINN. - Guided by a career-high 22 kills by Jessica Bates and a triple-double by Tara Sauter, the NSU volleyball team was able to fend off St. Cloud State in the second day of the SDSU/SMSU Burger King Classic in Marshall, Minn. on Saturday.

The Wolves dropped the first game 33-31 but came back to win the next three 30-20, 33-31 and 30-19 and capture its second win of the season over the Huskies.

Sauter posted her first ever double-double with 12 kills, 40 assists, and 17 digs on the day and added two blocks to add to her totals. She also helped NSU to its season high attack percentage hitting .247 in the game as a team.

Bates posted 22 kills on 48 swings for a .367 percentage and added two blocks to her totals, as well.

Sophomore Renae Sparling led the Wolves defensively with 18 digs on the day and also recorded eight kills.

Northern State improves to 3-5 on the year and will take on Minnesota State, Mankato in the first day of the NSIC/NCC Challenge in Omaha, Neb. on Friday.
