HALT NSU HOME WINNING STREAK AT EIGHT
ABERDEEN,
S.D. - The Northern State volleyball team saw its eight-match
home winning streak come to an end on Friday night as Southwest
Minnesota State rolled over the Wolves in three games, 30-24,
37-35, 30-16 in a Gypsy Day matchup in Aberdeen.
The
Mustangs pulled away from Northern after a close match most
of the way through and then held off three Northern State
match points in game two to take a two games to none lead.
Northern
then had the wind taken out of its sails with a decisive 30-16
game four that ended the NSU winning streak at eight matches.
Northern
State's Monica Inge kept her defensive statistics up on the
night with 25 digs in the match while Tara Engquist came up
with 16 on the evening. Jessica Bates led the NSU offense
with eight kills and posted four blocks, as well.
Jen
Otto led SMSU with 15 kills and 19 digs on the evening while
Renee Barenz posted 12 kills and Ashley Wells followed with
11.
Northern
State, 5-9, 1-1 NSIC, will host Wayne State on Saturday night
at 7 p.m. in Wachs Arena.
