WOLVES
EARN HARD FOUGHT WIN OVER SOUTH DAKOTA STATE
ABERDEEN,
S.D . - Northern State collected its second straight win in
front of 580 fans in Wachs Arena as the Wolves toppled South
Dakota State 30-27, 18-30, 33-31, 30-25 on Tuesday night.
Northern
jumped out to a nice lead in game one and held off the Jacks
to take a one games to none advantage. But the Jackrabbits
would bounce back to take a 13-3 lead in game two and go on
to win the game handily 30-18.
From
then on, it was all Wolves as Northern rattled off nice runs
in games three and four including an impressive nine-point
stretch in the fourth to hand NSU the match 3-1.
Jessica
Bates led all hitters with 19 kills on the night. The senior
hit .291 on the evening for the Wolves and came up with three
blocks, as well.
Renae
Sparling posted her eighth double-double of the season with
16 kills and 12 digs while Tara Sauter made good on 44 assists,
ten digs and six blocks.
Monica
Inge added 25 digs to pace the Wolves defensively while Chelsey
Deibert added six blocks and nine kills to her stat line.
As
a team, Northern State hit .176 while SDSU was at a .170 cilp.
The Jacks' were paced by Senior Wendy O'Neill who connected
for 18 kills, five aces and 12 digs.
Northern
State (8-12) will host nationally-ranked Minnesota-Duluth
on Friday night in Wachs Arena. First serve is at 7 p.m.
