COME BACK TO UPEND NORTHERN STATE
Moorhead,
Minn. - The NSU volleyball team squandered a two-game lead
for the second straight match on Friday night as the Wolves
were toppled by MSU Moorhead 3-2 in a five-game shootout on
Friday night in Moorhead.
Northern
State seemed to have things well in hand after defeating the
Dragons by decisive scores of 30-19, 30-24 in games one and
two, respecively, but MSUM found a way to edge the Wolves
33-31, 30-28 in games three and four while winning the decisive
game five 15-7.
The
Wolves dropped a five-game decision on Tuesday night to Bemidji
State in similar fashion going up 2-0 in the Beavers before
faltering in the final three games.
The
Wolves hit over .200 as a team for just the fourth time this
season in the loss rolling off a .209 (65-27-182) clip on
the evening.
Individually,
NSU was paced by a career high 17 kills by Tara Engquist (Oakes,
N.D.) as the junior hit .438 on the match.
Jessica
Bates (Byron, Wyo.) and Chelsey Deibert (Aberdeen, S.D.) each
came in with 16 kills while Tara Sauter (Belle Plaine, Minn.)
put up 35 assists and 12 digs.
Monica
Inge (Johnston, Iowa) surpassed the 1,000 dig mark in her
career with a 31-dig performance on Friday to lead the Wolves
defensively.
Northern
State drops to 9-15 on the season and 3-7 in NSIC play. They
will travel to Wayne State on Friday night.
