MUSTANGS OVERPOWER WOLVES IN FOUR

Marshall, Minn. - The Southwest Minnesota State Mustangs earned their second win of the season over Northern State in a 3-1 match in Marshall, Minn. on Saturday.

The Mustangs came out hot winning the first games by scores of 30-21 and 30-24 but NSU came back hitting .283 in game three to win 30-28. SMSU then won a back-and-forth game four 30-28 to earn the match victory.

NSU's Jessica Bates gathered 14 kills to lead the Wolves while Renae Sparling etched 12 on the night. Monica Inge posted a match high 27 digs while Tara Sauter came up with 24.

Northern hit just .146 as a team on the night including a game one mark of -.024. The Wolves produced nice defensive numbers, however, earning 100 digs and mustering 12 blocks on the evening.

Northern State drops to 10-16, 4-8 NSIC and will host Minnesota, Crookston on Tuesday in Aberdeen.
