INGE NAMED TO DAKTRONICS, INC. ALL-REGION SECOND TEAM

Aberdeen, S.D. - Northern State senior libero Monica Inge was named to the 2003 Daktronics, Inc. all-North Central Region Volleyball second team.

Inge, a 5-9 senior from Johnston, Iowa, will leave NSU as one of the best defensive players in school history. Inge was named as the conference’s libero of the year after leading the NSIC with 598 digs (5.39 d/g). During her senior year at Northern, Inge earned the NSIC Defensive Player of the Week award four times and set school marks with 56 serve receive attempts and a perfect 56-for-56 serve receive match against Bemidji State. Inge will leave NSU as the school’s career leader in serve receive percentage (94.6 pct.), ranks seventh in school history with 2,151 serves received and 11th in career digs (1,147).

The Northern Sun was well represented on the team with three players from Concordia-St. Paul on the first team. Minnesota-Duluth was the only other NSIC school to be represented in 2003.

This marks the second time in three years that Northern State has placed a player on the Daktronics all-region team with Christi Lucas garnering honors in 2001.

The Daktronics, Inc. Division II All-North Central Region Women’s Volleyball Team is selected by the sports information directors of NCAA Division II member institutions.
