Wildcats Battle Back to Burn Wolves in Five

Aberdeen, S.D. - Wayne State battled back from a 2-0 deficit to defeat Northern State 3-2 and end the Wolves five game winning streak. The Wolves won the first two games 30-28, 30-21, but faltered in the final three games losing 25-30, 15-30, 6-15. This marks the Wolves first loss at home this season as they fall to 6-6 overall and 2-1 in the NSIC. Wayne State improves to 14-4 overall and 2-1 in the NSIC.

The Wolves looked impressive in games one and two as they hit well, but you could feel a momentum swing during the third game. The Wolves hitting worsened each of the last three games, including hitting -.034 (5K-6E-29TA) in the final game.

The Wolves did have seven service aces and eight blocks, but the Wildcats had 89 kills compared to the Wolves 70.

The Wolves were led by Chelsey Deibert who had 20 kills. Angie Aadahl added 18 kills and 16 digs while Luciola Figueroa had 14 kills and 29 digs. Katie Hegge led the Wolves with 31 digs. Kellie Heier had 58 kill assists in the match.

The Wolves host SW Minnesota State tomorrow afternoon at 5:00 p.m.
