Diaz's 15 Kills Leads Northern Over Winona State
Winona, Minn. – Northern State (8-7, 3-2 NSIC) rallied from one game down to earn a 3-1 win over Winona State (10-9, 2-3 NSIC). The Wolves fell in game on 29-31, but rebound to win the next three 30-24, 30-22, 32-30. Odemaris Diaz led the Wolves with 15 kills while Angie Aadahl added 11 of her own in the match.
The match was statistically even as the Wolves had 58 kills to 57 for the Warriors. The Warriors hit .231 (57K-15E-182TA) while the Wolves hit .218 (58K-16E-193TA) and the Warriors out blocked the Wolves 10.0 to 9.0. The Wolves amassed six service aces to two for the Warriors but committed ten ball handling errors to the Warriors seven.
Kellie Heier, the Wolves setter, was two kills away from her third triple double of the season as she had eight kills, 39 kill assists, and 16 digs. Heier hit .421 on the night as she committed zero errors in her 19 attempts. Katie Hegge again led the Wolves in digs as she reached out for 29 from her libero position.
The Wolves travel to #5 Concordia St. Paul tomorrow afternoon at 3:00 p.m. The Golden Bears knocked off #25 MSU Moorhead in five games on Friday night.
