#5 Dickinson State Takes Wolves in Four Games
Aberdeen, S.D. – Northern State lost a tight match to the NAIA’s #5 team Dickinson State in four games. The Wolves lost 28-30, 30-24, 20-30, 27-30 but had leads in game one and four.
The Wolves scored the first five points of the match and led most of the way through game one before Dickinson went on a 8-2 the last ten points to win game one 30-28.
Game four was the tightest of the matches as their were four lead changes and 12 ties before Dickinson pulled away from a 22-22 tie to outscore the Wolves 8 to five to take the match.
The Wolves had five players in double figure kills with Luciola Figueroa leading the team with 13. Angie Aadahl, Chelsey Deibert, Odemaris Diaz and Laura Nelson all came in with 10 kills. Nelson had the best hitting performance as the hit .300 with 10 kills, four errors in twenty total attempts. Dickinson was led by Nancy Nyongesa who turned in a match high 22 kills.
Both teams committed a lot of unforced errors. Dickinson State had five ball handling errors and six service errors while the Wolves had three BHEs and seven service errors.
The Wolves return to NSIC action next Friday, October 21 st when they travel to SW Minnesota State for a 7:00 p.m. game. Then on the 22 nd the Wolves travel to Wayne, America to take on the Wildcats at 3:00 p.m.
