MOORHEAD, Minn. - Despite sticking with the Dragons of MSU Moorhead for much of the match Friday night, the Wolves could not get close enough to take a game and fell in three straight, 28-30, 28-30, and 18-30.
The Wolves' offense hit above their season average against the Dragons, but the hitters of MSUM simply overpowered and outshined NSU. The Wolves hit .171 on the night, but the Dragons came out firing with a .290 average. Moorhead had 63 kills to NSU's 38. The Wolves took the edge on the blocking front, tallying 9 team blocks on the night.
Kelsey Aden led the team with 12 kills against the Dragons. No other NSU player tallied double digits in kills or digs. Jill Rasmussen and Heather Pudwill had five blocks each, Rasmussen with five assists and Pudwill with two solo blocks and three assists.
MSUM had three players with 10+ kills, led by Brandon and Norling with 17 each. Oftedahl led all players with 18 digs.
The Wolves will play one more road match at Augustana College on Tuesday before making their home debut on Friday and Saturday. They will take on MN-Crookston Friday at 7:00 pm and Bemidji State Saturday at 4:30.
