Volleyball Knocks Off USD In Four

ABERDEEN, SD – For the third consecutive match, the Wolves volleyball team rebounded to win a match in four games after losing the first race to 30. At Wachs Arena Tuesday night, NSU (10-6) defeated South Dakota (4-13) in a non-conference meeting, 27-30, 30-27, 30-28, and 30-26.
The Wolves posted their highest hitting average of the season on their way to a win over the Coyotes, swinging at a .220 clip. NSU's season average stood at .154 before the match.
Sophomore outside hitter Kelsey Aden (St. James, MN) led the pack with 18 kills and five block assists, followed by Odemaris Diaz (Vega Alsa, PR) with 16 kills. Kellie Heier (Aberdeen, SD) had a line of eight kills, 45 set assists, and 15 digs on the night. Melanie Perez (Rio Piedras, PR) made the move from libero to outside hitter and tallied a team high 21 digs and also had eight kills. The Wolves had 65 kills on the night, as well as 80 digs and six team blocks.
South Dakota was led by setter/righside hitter Ashley Gross with 20 kills. Libero Amber Kobus led all players with 28 digs. USD had 67 kills, 80 digs, and hit .183 on the night.
NSU returns to action on the road this weekend, traveling to Upper Iowa on Friday (7:00 pm) and Concordia St. Paul on Saturday (3:00 pm).
