CROOKSTON, Minn - The Northern State volleyball team (15-11, 9-7 NSIC) has extended it's current win streak to four matches with a win over MN-Crookston (7-24, 3-13 NSIC) Saturday night. The streak is the longest winning streak for the Wolves this season and the second time that they won four consecutive matches. The Wolves have not lost a single game throughout their run.

The Wolves simply overpowered the Golden Eagles at the net on Saturday, taking the match in three straight games, 30-23, 30-16, 30-26. They hit at a season-high rate of .288, more than 30 points higher than their previous best of .257 set on October 10 against Mary. They also came up with 10 team blocks, which is extremely impressive for a three game match. Middle blocker Jill Rasmussen was involved in nine of the team's ten blocks.

The Wolves were led in hitting by senior outside hitter Odemaris Diaz with 18 kills. Diaz also posted five block assists. Middle hitter Kelsey Aden had 11 kills on the night while hitting at a rate of .476. She committed just one hitting error all match. As mentioned, Rasmussen forged the way on the blocking front with nine assists. The reigning NSIC defensive POW Melanie Perez led all players with 24 digs. Kellie Heier dished up 44 assists while also totaling 10 digs and three block assists.

The Eagles had just one player finish with double digit kills, Erin Flynn with 10. The team came up with 40 kills but hit just .055 on the night. They had 73 digs, including 17 from Heather Foreman.

The Wolves hope that their recent peak in play will propel them to a strong showing this weekend as they wrap up the regular season with a set of home matches. They will take on Concordia-St. Paul, currently ranked #7 in the nation, on Friday night at 7:00 pm. Their final regular season match of 2006 will be against Upper Iowa on Saturday at 3:00 pm.
