Perez Named NSIC Player of the Week

Perez, in the maroon jersey, helped guide the Wolves to a 2-0 record last week.
ABERDEEN, SD. – Although she is new to the team, Northern State libero Melanie Perez is no rookie to the spotlight in the NSIC. The sophomore transfer student was named NSIC Defensive Player of the Week following her performances through matches played last week. This is the third time this season that Perez grabbed the nomination.
Perez is originally from Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico, and transferred to NSU from Western Nebraska Community College. She averaged 7.83 digs per game as the Wolves went 2-0 for the week, defeating the University of Mary and MSU Moorhead, each in three game matches. Perez had 20 digs against Mary and 27 against MSU Moorhead as the Wolves improved to 13-11 overall and 7-7 in the NSIC.
Northern State University (located in Aberdeen, SD) is an NCAA Division II institution and a member of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC).
