Volleyball Team Goes Into Extra Games Again
GRAND FORKS, ND - For the fourth and fifth times this season, the Northern State volleyball team (5-3) took a match into extra games, this time with mixed results. The squad finished play at the UND Extreme Tournament with a record of 3-1 and are now 5-3 overall on the season.
Against North Dakota (3-3), the team fought to take the match 30-21, 30-27, 24-30, 15-30, 15-10. Diaz, Knaeble, and Aden once again led the team offensively with 12, 11, and 10 kills, respectively. Perez tallied another 22 digs, while Jorgenson notched 18. Heier had 45 assists and 17 digs. The team hit .136 on the match and had 10 team blocks, including seven assists from Rasmussen.
The Wolves were unable to handle Minnesota State Mankato in their last match of the day, falling 22-30, 30-28, 24-30, 23-30. The team hit just .066 in the match and had 11 service errors. Knaeble led the team with 15 kills and 22 digs, while Perez added another 31 digs. Aden had two solo blocks and four block assists.
Northern State will have the week to prepare for their first NSIC matches of the season. They will travel to Southwest Minnesota State next weekend and play a trio of conference games against SMSU, Winona State, and Wayne State.
