ABERDEEN, S.D. - The Northern State volleyball team kept Upper Iowa (4-23, 0-15 NSIC) winless in NSIC play with a 3-0 downing of the Peacocks on Friday night. The Wolves won with game scores of 31-29, 30-23, and 30-26. The victory puts the Wolves back in the win column after a three-match hiatus. They are now 12-12 overall and 7-8 in NSIC play.

Northern started the match on an 18-7 running, downing kill after kill with few errors to be found anywhere. They reached game point at 29-15 before the Peacocks went on a short rally to send the game to extra points, but a kill by Jill Rasmussen and a Peacock hitting error gave the 31-29 decision to NSU.

The Wolves started the second game on another large run and didn't look back. Kelsey Aden led the team with five of NSU's 17 kills in the game. The third game stayed close until the midpoint, but NSU gained some momentum and took the final game by a score of 30-26.

Aden had 12 kills in the match, followed by Emily Knaeble and Rasmussen with 11 each. NSU hit .214 on the night and tallied eight serving aces, including four from Stephanie Nygaard. Nygaard had 22 of the team's 73 match digs.

The Peacocks committed 23 hitting errors before giving up the decision in three straight games. Shea Meyermann led her squad with 15 kills, ten digs and four block assists. The Peacocks had 79 digs and seven blocks against the Wolves.

Northern is in action at Wachs Arena again on Saturday evening, hosting Winona State in a 7:00 pm match.
