Pollari Returns To NSU As Assistant Coach

June 1, 2007
ABERDEEN, S.D. - Northern State University head women's baskeball coach Curt Fredrickson has announced the hiring of Brent Pollari as the assistant women's basketball coach for 2007-08. Pollari is a former women's basketball graduate assistant at NSU who received a Master's Degree in Physical Education, Health, and Coaching in 2006. He will also serve as head women's golf coach.

Pollari is no stranger to Coach Fredrickson or Northern State University. He served as a graduate assistant coach for the women's basketball team from 2004 to 2006, assisting with practices, game preparation, and on-court coaching for the NCAA Tournament-qualifying Wolves.

"We are very excited to be able to add Brent to our coaching staff," said Fredrickson of the new hire. "As a former graduate assistant, Brent is very familiar with our program and players. He has an outstanding feel for the game and will really help us in the area of recruiting."

Pollari returns to Northern after serving one year as an assistant coach at Texas A&M-Kingsville. While at TAMUK, Pollari directed the Javelina offense and assisted with the defense. He served as Interim Head Coach for a time and has experience in developing practice and game plans, fundraising, and recruiting. He was also a kinesiology instructor at TAMUK.

Pollari spent two years as head coach of the Corvallis High School girl's basketball program in Corvallis, Mont. and was a third assistant coach at Montana State University in 2001-02. He played two seasons of basketball for the University of Mary, where he received a degree in Physical Education in 2001.

Pollari will take over as assistant women's basketball coach and head women's golf coach for Amanda Bain, who resigned from her post earlier this month to pursue opportunities outside of athletics.

"We wish Amanda all the best in her future endeavors. She has been great to work with," said Fredrickson. "Thanks to her hard work, the three years that Amanda has been here as our assistant coach, we won 62 games."
